Monroe County honors local heroes with second annual Veterans Day parade

Rochester, N.Y. — Patriotism was on full display Saturday morning at the Monroe County Veterans Day Parade.

The more than 32,000 veterans who live in Monroe County were celebrated and honored as local marching bands, law enforcement, and other groups paraded through county streets.

There was also a special service at the Vietnam Memorial in Gary Beikirch Memorial Park in remembrance of all those who served.

This was the second annual Veterans Day parade in Monroe County and for families of veterans, it’s special to have this recognition for local heroes.

“As a daughter of a veteran, it is very heartwarming, very important and it means a lot to me because we loved our father very much and he was our hero,” said Catherine Lennox, Webster resident. “So, it is good to see that everybody feels the same way about vets, I hope.”

Sheriff Todd Baxter, an Army veteran was the parade’s grand marshal.
