NAACP demands investigation of alleged incidents at Mass. school

The NAACP is pushing for an investigation after students at a Western Massachusetts high school were accused of racially charged bullying, including an online “slave auction” to “bid” on Black classmates.Students are also accused of making derogatory racial remarks against a Black female student.As Western Mass News first reported, the local NAACP branch sent a letter to school district leaders, including the principal and the superintendent of the Southwick-Tolland-Granville regional school district, to demand an investigation into these alleged incidents of racial bullying.“In 2024, for that type of behavior to be going on among teenagers lets us know that we have a myriad of problems, one of them being the fact that racism is being passed down from generation to generation,” said Bishop Talbert Swan, the president of the NAACP’s Springfield chapter. The Hampden County District Attorney’s Office says it is investigating.School district leaders have not yet commented on the allegations.
