The exact location of the incident is still under investigation, officials say

THE CRESCENT CIT THE CRESCENT CITY CONNECTION IS REOPENED FOLLOWING A SHOOTING NEAR THE BRIDGE IN JUST MOMENTS AGO. NO NOPD TELLS US THE VICTIM IS IN THE HOSPITAL IN GRAVE CONDITION AFTER THEY INITIALLY WERE INVESTIGATING THIS AS A HOMICIDE. THE C.C.C. Traffic heading towards the Westbank is now moving after an investigation was conducted into a shooting that happened near the Crescent City Connection Thursday afternoon. The New Orleans Police Department responded to reports of a shooting around 12:44 p.m. after a hospital contacted them with a gunshot wound victim. According to the NOPD, a 23-year-old man was shot on the incline near the Tchoupitoulas on ramp heading to the Westbank on the CCC.The man was taken to a Westbank hospital where they are in “grave condition,” according to police. This investigation was originally classified by NOPD as a homicide, but have changed the condition of the victim to serious. Numerous shell casings were reported at the scene, but it’s unclear at this time if the incident was a gun battle or if the suspect and victim were in the same car. NOPD investigators shut down US 90 at the St. Charles Ave exit westbound as they worked to determine the exact location of the crime scene. Investigators are also working to determine exactly what happened and why. All lanes of the bridge are now open but delays are still expected.
