“After the Summit ended, people from across the city had thronged the ITPO complex, Bhairon Marg and near Bharat Mandapam gate 6 on Monday… there was huge traffic jam at 8.30 pm,” an official said.
Four new roads, 125 cameras, 55 facade lights, 10 new gates: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is gearing up for the mega race, MotoGP Bharat 2023, which is scheduled to be held from September 22 to 24 at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
According to officials, the four roads will be built around the venue to provide easy and safe transportation to VVIPs and visitors. “We are building a new double service road up to Charpargarh cut, which will help commuters coming from Agra to Noida. Along with this, a road from Charpargarh to Murshadpur is being built. We are also installing 125 cameras and 55 facade lights,” said Dr Arun Vir Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YEIDA.

He said that apart from the construction of the roads, trees and bushes are being trimmed throughout the route to give it a better look. Officials also said that some other roads are being built and repaired by the Jaypee group, the operator of the circuit.
“We are also building 10 new gates at different locations to welcome visitors; the horticulture department will install these gates and they will be removed after the event. Apart from this, the authority is working on the beautification of the city,” said Singh.
He further added that the Yamuna Authority has already spent around Rs 4.15 crore on different works. “Out of this, Rs 2.50 crore was spent on civil works, Rs 35 lakh on lights, and Rs 1.30 crore by the horticulture department. The authority will spend an additional Rs 4 crore on the remaining works. This comes up to a total of Rs 8.15 crore. We have already given Rs 3.50 crore directly to MotoGP to complete work at their end,” said CEO Singh.

Officials said the additional amount being released to MotoGP is to complete track-related and other work at the earliest.
Other pending work includes installation of cameras and street lights from Chapargarh to Salarpur and Salarpur to Jaypee Gate no. 17. Lights are also being installed from Gautam Buddha University to the petrol pump near Gaur Yamuna City (a loop towards Agra). Trees are being trimmed and cleaning work is underway from Murshadpur underpass to Chapargarh cut on both sides of the Yamuna Expressway.
Different entry gates — Jaypee Sports city, Gunpura circuit, Aurangpur ki Madhaiya, Aurangpur EPF entry gate and Dereen khooban – will be closed during the event.
