‘Newsmakers’ to spotlight Nanette Philibert Business of Art Symposium | Local News

The next edition of “Newsmakers” on KGCS-TV will focus on the 10th annual Nanette Philibert Business of Art Symposium, during which students and artists in the region can learn how to market themselves and their creations as they launch their own art business.

Nii Abrahams, professor of economics, and Frank Pishkur, professor of art and design, will explain how and why the symposium was started by former management professor Nanette Philibert. Katie Fields and Kelsey Little, with the Small Business Development Center, and Dan Cravens, assistant professor of entrepreneurship, will talk about the benefits of the sessions and keynote speakers. Student artists will discuss the benefits of a portfolio review offered separately at the symposium and share the impact of hearing from working artists.

“Newsmakers” will air at 5 and 9 p.m. nightly next week on KGCS-TV.

KGCS programming can be seen on Channel 21 and on regional cable television systems. The station operates as a service of the communication department at Missouri Southern State University.
