North Charleston celebrates the Grand Opening of New Sports Complex

On Thursday, The city of North Charleston held a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of the new North Charleston Sports Complex, a multi-million dollar project.
City officials are opening the doors of North Charleston’s newest attraction, a 25-million-dollar sports complex in Park Circle.

“Today, we are opening up the doors for others that thought like I thought. What can I do? Those fields and that swimming pool are going to give you the option to show yourself,” said Reggie Burgess, the Mayor of the City of North Charleston.

The complex will include a 25-meter pool, a 6-goal basketball gym, tennis and pickleball courts, a multipurpose field, a roller rink, a walking trail, and more.

“I am looking forward to returning to the pool and using the facility. I live three blocks over, so it’s nice to have an amenity like this coming into the neighborhood, and I think it’s going to be a nice central spot for everyone to build community,” said JB McCabb, a Park Circle resident.

There will be a fee to use the swimming pool, but the rest of the amenities are free to the public, and officials with the city say they’re excited for residents to take advantage of the new facility.

This building and facility show that our city is committed to recreation and providing opportunities for folks to exercise, have fun, and watch the kids play basketball. It is something the community can rally around and see. There is recreation out there that we want everyone to be a part of,” said Tj Rostin, the director of parks and recreation for North Charleston.
Outdoor amenities will open on Friday, and all indoor amenities will open on April 1.
