Officials ID human remains found in Saugus woods as Haverhill man

WELL, SEAN, JEN, THAT’S WHAT THE DA’S OFFICE IS TELLING US. THEY SAY THAT SOMEONE WAS WALKING THEIR DOG IN THESE WOODS HERE BEHIND ME AND CALLED 911 AFTER SEEING WHAT INVESTIGATORS SAY IS EVIDENCE OF HUMAN BONES. INVESTIGATORS SAY THAT PERSON AND THEIR DOG WERE WALKING IN THE WOODS OFF DAVID DRIVE JUST AFTER TEN THIS MORNING. SAUGUS POLICE, AS WELL AS STATE POLICE INVESTIGATORS WERE OUT WORKING AT THE END OF THE ROAD. NEIGHBORS SAY, WHILE WHILE SOME DO TAKE THEIR DOGS OUT ON WALKS HERE, IT’S NOT COMMON FOR PEOPLE TO WALK IN THE WOODS NEAR THEIR HOMES. OFTEN. NOT THAT I KNOW OF, AND I DO A LOT OF HIKING. AND NO, I NOBODY THAT I KNOW HAS EVER GONE DOWN THERE. IF YOU YOU KNOW, IF YOU WANT TO WORK OUT, YOU JUST WALK UP AND DOWN THE HILLS HERE OR GO OVER TO THE BREAKHEART, WHICH IS A TEN MINUTE DRIVE FROM HERE. NOW, THE MEDICAL EXAMINER PARKED AT THE END OF DAVID DRIVE THIS EVENING. THE DA’S OFFICE SAYS THE MEDICAL EXAMINER WILL WORK TO DETERMINE HOW THE PERSON DIED AND WHO THEY ARE NOW. THE DA’S OFFICE TELLS US ALTHOUGH THIS INVESTIGATION IS ACTIVE AND ONGOING, THEY SAY THERE IS NO BELIEVED THREAT TO THE PU

Skeletal remains found by a person walking their dog in a wooded area of Saugus, Massachusetts, this weekend have been identified, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said. The district attorney’s office said the remains of John Lawler of Haverhill were found in the woods off David Drive Sunday morning. Lawler was reported missing in the summer of 2023.The case remains open pending a final determination of cause and manner of death by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
