Gaganyaan Test Flight: ISRO to Flight Test Human Space Mission’s Crew Module Escape System

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing for a significant milestone with the first test flight scheduled for Saturday at 8 a.m. This test aims to evaluate the crucial crew escape system of the rocket designated to carry Indian astronauts into space, expected to occur around 2025. The mission, named Flight Test Vehicle Abort Mission-1 (TV-D1), will demonstrate the crew escape system’s functionality.

S. Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, clarified that this mission marks the commencement of a series of four planned test flights, news agency IANS reported. The crew escape system’s primary purpose is to ensure the astronauts’ safety in case of any issues with the rocket during their journey, enabling their safe return to Earth via a splashdown in the sea.

Nawaz Sharif Expected to Return to Pakistan Today

After four years of self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom and evading bail conditions set in 2020, Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, is anticipated to return. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s legal team is cautiously optimistic that Sharif will not face immediate incarceration upon his return.

This optimism stems from a recent development in which the Islamabad High Court granted him temporary relief by providing protective bail in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia corruption cases, which is in effect until October 24.
