The Premier League returns this weekend as the summer transfer window finally shuts.
Teams are planning for the fourth round of fixtures, but many are also scrambling to do late business — whether in or out — before the 11pm deadline on September 1.
Any new signings must be registered by midday on Friday to be eligible to feature in games on Saturday or Sunday; otherwise, they will have to wait until after the international break.

Friday, September 1 (8pm BST)
Luton team news: Gabe Osho, Dan Potts and Jordan Clark remain sidelined for Luton.
West Ham team news: West Ham will be without Tomas Soucek for Friday’s game after he suffered a concussion during last weekend’s victory over Brighton. David Moyes confirmed Soucek is following the Premier League’s concussion protocols. Nayef Aguerd is available to return after serving a one-game suspension following his red card against Chelsea.

Opta omen: This is Luton’s first top-flight home game since April 1992 when they beat Aston Villa 2-0. The Hatters are unbeaten in their last eight at Kenilworth Road in the top division (W5 D3), with West Ham the last side to beat them (1-0 in January 1992).
Saturday, September 2 (12.30pm BST)
Sheffield United team news: Paul Heckingbottom will be boosted in attack, with new signing Cameron Archer eligible and Oli McBurnie pushing to start after returning from injury off the bench in the late defeat to Manchester City. Ben Osborn was withdrawn earlier in that game with a muscular injury, handing Heckingbottom a further problem at left wing-back. Heckingbottom confirmed new signing Luke Thomas will be involved on Saturday following his move from Leicester. Max Lowe remains a long-term absentee.
Everton team news: Sean Dyche says it is “touch and go” as to whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin can return after being forced off against Aston Villa with a facial injury. Dyche confirmed the forward has a sinus problem which is being managed and will not require surgery. Dwight McNeil has returned to training following an ankle injury and summer signing Jack Harrison is back on the grass with the sports since team as he continues his comeback from a hip injury. Seamus Coleman (knee) remains a long-term absentee.

Opta omen: There have been just five goals scored in the five Premier League meetings between Sheffield United (2) and Everton (3) at Bramall Lane, with no side scoring more than once in any of those games.
Saturday, September 2 (3pm BST)
Brentford team news: Thomas Frank confirmed last week that Shandon Baptiste (shoulder) and Josh Dasilva (hamstring) were sidelined with “longer-term injuries”. Ben Mee made his first appearance of the season against Newport County on Tuesday following a calf injury.
Bournemouth team news: New signings Tyler Adams and Alex Scott have been sidelined since their arrival, alongside Adam Smith, Ryan Fredericks, Marcus Tavernier and Dango Ouattara. Andoni Iraola admitted ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup victory over Swansea that it would be “tough” for them to return in time for Saturday’s clash with Brentford.

Burnley team news: Anass Zaroury remains suspended following his red card against Manchester City, while Michael Obafemi is sidelined after hamstring surgery. Vitinho, Aaron Ramsey and Hjalmar Ekdal were all forced off through injury during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup victory over Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham team news: Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil remain sidelined for Spurs, while Richarlison picked up a knock against Fulham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Opta omen: Tottenham have only failed to score in one of their last 22 Premier League games, finding the net in each of their last 15. Spurs are looking to win three consecutive league games for the first time since May/August 2022 (four).

Chelsea team news: Chelsea continue to be without Carney Chukwuemeka, Benoit Badiashile, Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Reece James and Christopher Nkunku. Mykhailo Mudryk has missed his side’s last two through injury and Romeo Lavia is yet to be involved since his move from Southampton as he continues to build his fitness.
Nottingham Forest team news: Forest will be without Danilo, who is set to have a scan on a hamstring injury sustained in training this week, and Orel Mangala, who has a minor problem which ruled him out of the game against Manchester United last weekend. He is expected to return after the international break. Scott McKenna will have a fitness test after coming off at Old Trafford with a tight hamstring.

Opta omen: Nottingham Forest have won just one of their 21 Premier League away games since their return to the division last season (D5 L15), going down 3-2 to Manchester United last time out despite going 2-0 ahead in just four minutes.

Man City team news: John Stones (hip) and Kevin De Bruyne (hamstring) remain sidelined for City.
Fulham team news: Calvin Bassey is available to return for Fulham after serving his one-game suspension. Marco Silva will also be back in the dugout following his one-match touchline ban. Willian has missed Fulham’s last two through injury and Silva admitted on Monday he was unsure if the winger would be available to return for Saturday’s trip to the Etihad.

Opta omen: Manchester City have won their last 14 meetings with Fulham in all competitions – among Premier League/Football League clubs in competitive English football history, only City themselves have had a longer winning run against an opponent (15 against Watford).

Brighton team news: Brighton continue to be without Julio Enciso due to a knee injury. New arrival Carlos Baleba could be in line for his Brighton debut following his move from Lille.
Newcastle team news: Joe Willock is expected to return after the international break having sat out Newcastle’s opening three league matches with a hamstring injury. New signing Lewis Hall could be involved for the first time since his move from Chelsea after missing out on a place in the squad against Liverpool.

Opta omen: Newcastle’s last away win against Brighton came in February 2017 in the Championship (2-1), with the Magpies failing to win any of their six visits in the Premier League (D4 L2).

Crystal Palace team news: Michael Olise remains absent for Palace with a hamstring injury. Will Hughes has missed his side’s opening three Premier League games with a knee injury sustained in pre-season while Matheus Franca was set to have a scan in August on a back issue.
Wolves team news: Matheus Nunes has returned from suspension but is closing in on a move to Manchester City after the Premier League champions reached a final agreement on a new €62million (£53.2m, $67.6m) fee for the midfielder. City midfielder Tommy Doyle is set to undergo a medical ahead of a season-long loan at Molineux.

Opta omen: Since their return to the Premier League in 2018, Wolves have only lost more league games against Liverpool (9), Man City (7) and Man Utd (6) than they have against Crystal Palace (5).

Liverpool team news: Virgil van Dijk serves a one-match suspension after being sent off against Newcastle last weekend. Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Ibrahima Konate will miss Sunday’s visit of Aston Villa, along with Thiago, who has suffered a setback in his recovery from a hip injury. Curtis Jones is fit to return following an ankle problem.
Aston Villa team news: Emi Martinez missed Villa’s win over Burnley due to a calf injury. Jacob Ramsey, Philippe Coutinho and Leander Dendoncker are likely to miss out again. Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia are longer-term absentees.

Opta omen: Liverpool have won their last two Premier League matches despite conceding first in both games, winning 3-1 against Bournemouth and 2-1 against Newcastle. Since Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge, the Reds have the most wins after conceding first (35) and points gained from losing positions (135) of any Premier League side.

Arsenal team news: Takehiro Tomiyasu is available to return for Arsenal after serving his one-game suspension. Gabriel Jesus made a late cameo against Fulham after missing the start of the season through injury. Jurrien Timber is a long-term absentee.
Man Utd team news: Raphael Varane has been ruled out of Sunday’s fixture and is expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks through injury. Luke Shaw and fellow left-back Tyrell Malacia are set to continue to miss out, while Mason Mount could be sidelined until after the September international break. Rasmus Hojlund has been building up his fitness after a back injury and was set to return to training this week.
