Redbirds Travel to Indiana for Bulldog Invite

CARMEL, Ind. – The Illinois State cross country team is set to compete at the Bulldog Invite with a limited roster for this weekend’s race, the final pre-MVC championship race of the season.

On the men’s side, junior Mathis Chavand led the way for the Redbirds as he was in the first pack the whole race, never losing a step as he finished second with a time of 24:15.10 just five seconds from his personal best. In the second pack was teammate Zack Loomis finishing 28th with a time of 24:52.70. Sophomore Yusuf Baig came in 78th with a time of 25:26.70 while freshman Dylan Myers finished 94th with a time of 25:38.60. Rounding out the top five for the Redbirds was freshman Ethan Reynoso with a time of 25:48.30 with an 111th place finish.

On the women’s side, graduate student Claire Fuhlhage led the pack once again but dealing with heavy rain and wind as she finished 9th with a time of 21:12.50. Junior Mattison Plummer was just behind in the second pack as she made a move in the last 1,000-meters to put herself in 21st with a time of 21:35.80. Junior Lauren Schulze also made a big jump as she finished with a time of 22:20.00 and took 67th. Viviana Sanfilippo finished 84th with a time of 22:31.80. Rounding out the top five for the Redbirds was freshman Colleen Zeibert with 107th and a time of 22:46.10.

The Redbirds make the trip to Nashville, Tennessee compete in the Missouri Valley Championship races on Friday, October 27 with the first race starting at 9:30 am CT.
