Rose Bowl Institute to Host Inspirational Online Symposium for Students on Women’s Empowerment in Sports and Beyond – Pasadena Now

The Rose Bowl Institute in Pasadena will host its inspiring 5th annual Women’s Empowerment Symposium online from Oct. 10 to Oct. 12.

The three-day event will feature speakers such as ESPN reporter Kris Budden, Ms. Military 2023 and U.S. Marines 1st Lt. Riley Tejcek, a member of the U.S. Women’s Bobsled Team, and sports journalist Bonnie Bernstein, Founder and CEO of Walk Swiftly Productions.

A Rose Bowl Institute statement said the symposium aims to inspire and educate high school and college students, especially young women, on topics such as Sportsmanship, Leadership and Citizenship, which are the Institute’s core values. Speakers will share their experiences and advice on breaking barriers and achieving their goals.

“This Symposium, in addition to the Networking Luncheon that took place in April, is a powerful two-part program over the course of a year that is meant to share knowledge and skills through networking, as well as inspire, empower and educate our next generation,” Lauren Hall, Programs Director at the Rose Bowl Institute, said.

Over the past two years, the event has featured speakers such as actresses and activists Sophia Bush and Alyssa Milano, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former U.S. World Cup Soccer Players Brandi Chastain and Julie Foudy, Olympian Simone Biles, UCLA Gymnastics legends Coach Valorie Kondos-Field and Gold Medalist Misty May-Trenor.

The event next month is part of the Rose Bowl Institute’s mission to promote the values of the Rose Bowl Game, which include excellence, innovation and teamwork.

The symposium will be available on the Institute’s virtual platform and on YouTube after the event.
