Serious crash on Interstate 95 in Georgetown leads to highway closure, MassDOT says

A section of Interstate 95 was closed in both directions after a crash in Georgetown involving serious injuries, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.The crash happened on I-95 north at the Exit 78A/B off-ramp, according to a MassDOT social media post shared shortly before 12:05 p.m. Saturday.A photograph of the crash scene showed a vehicle had rolled over onto its roof with heavy damage to the driver’s side.MassDOT said the highway was shut down so that a medical helicopter can make a safe landing.The department said I-95 north was detoured at Exit 76A/B, the exit for Route 97. I-95 south, meanwhile, was detoured at Exit 78A/B, the exit for Route 133.Shortly before 12:30 p.m., MassDOT shared that the highway had reopened in both directions, but that Exit 78B for Route 133 remains closed.
