North East Ambulance Service update
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
We received a call at 8.32am this morning to reports of a road traffic incident on the junction of Union Road and the A193 in Byker. We dispatched one ambulance crew and a clinical team leader to the scene. One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) for further treatment.

Northumbria Police update on the collision
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said:
Shortly after 8.36am today (Wednesday) police received a report of a two vehicle collision on Shields Road in Byker involving a car and a motorbike.
Emergency services attended and the motorcycle rider was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist police with enquiries.Officers remain in the area and the road is closed with a diversion in place.

Two vehicle collision
The two vehicle collision involved a car and a motorbike. The motorcyclist has been taken to hospital for treatment. The driver remained at the scene following the collision to assist police with their enquiries.

‘Serious’ collision in Newcastle
Stagecoach North East is advising customers that diversions are in place due to a serious collision in Newcastle.
The service 22 will be diverted via full length of Shields Road past the top of Chillingham Road. Westbound only Service 39 & 40 divert via Coyers Road, Brinkburn Street back onto Shields Road westbound only.
