South Atlanta business owner forced to close after repeated break-ins

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta police are looking for a man who repeatedly robbed a business in South Atlanta.

Authorities say Reggie’s Food Mart on Dill Avenue was hit three times in a week in early July.

The business owner is frustrated and tired and has taken the help of lawyer Musa Ghanayem.

“There was a lot of damage. I mean the roof was damaged, the damper was damaged and the back door was damaged,” Ghanayem said.

Surveillance video from inside the store shows the suspect breaking in from the roof.

The video shows the man dressed in black with a white blanket over his face stuffing goods into a sports bag.

Footage shows what police believe to be the same man falling through the ceiling and stealing several other items days later.

Police say the suspect got away with at least $1,500 worth of cigarettes and other items.

Ghanayem says that’s the least of his client’s worries: “I know the damage done to the store is far worse than anything he could have suffered and it’s really the disrespect for humanity and your neighbours.”

He says the repeated break-ins forced the owner to temporarily close the business: “That’s always been what Reggie is. He will continue to keep this store open as soon as they can fix it and he will reinvest in the store and the community.

Ghanayem says the necessary repairs could take months.
