A spring time snowstorm for the state of Maine is bring a Winter Storm Warning with snow, sleet and rain forecasted. The Winter Storm Warning went into effect at 2 a.m. on Saturday and runs through 6 a.m. Sunday.Throughout the morning, we’ll see snow move in across from Maine and bring sleet to the southern portion of the coast. That sleet across the coast will expand by 4 p.m. and stretch up the coastline.The storm also brings a threat of heavy, freezing rain in the evening which could bring potential flooding on the coast as snow continues in the mountains.A LOOK AT WEATHER IN STANDISHThe mountains are expected to get 10 to 14 inches of snow. The sleet will keep snow totals down closer to the coast, however 6 to 10 inches is possible down in the greater Portland area. Below Portland, 3 to 6 inches is expected.With the potential for heavy rainfall, some excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding.The storm system wraps up overnight Saturday into Sunday. Sunday looks much better for Maine Maple Sunday.
