SRTC holds pinning ceremony for Rad Tech seniors | Local News

MOULTRIE- Recently, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) honored graduating SRTC-Moultrie Radiologic Technology students during a banquet at SRTC-Moultrie. Ten seniors were recognized at the awards ceremony and received pins to mark the completion of their program requirements: Ashton Daniels of Tifton, Tony Herring of Moultrie, Alexander Hubbard of Ashburn, Ashlee Johnson of Albany, Kyla Massey of Moultrie, Kyle Matthews of Tifton, Sarah Scott of Sylvester, Isabel Simmons of Doerun, Allison Taylor of Moultrie, and Montana Trawick of Moultrie.

“Our pinning ceremony is an important step in recognizing the hard work these individuals have put in over the last 15 months,” said Radiologic Technology Clinical Coordinator Brooke Gagnon. “I’m very proud of the success of our senior Radiology Technology students, and I am excited about the positive impact they will have on providing high-quality healthcare in our community. This is my first graduating class as a Clinical Coordinator, so this cohort holds a special place in my heart! The students deserve recognition for bettering themselves and the good work they are ready to do in our community. I am looking forward to working with the upcoming juniors as they progress in their educational journeys, and am eager to see them succeed as well.”

The program also presented pins to members of their junior class during the ceremony. “We are very proud and excited for our junior and senior students,” said Buffie Spencer, Radiologic Technology Program Chair. “Our students consistently demonstrate exceptional dedication, technical proficiency and compassionate patient care. Their accomplishments reflect the rigorous training and commitment to excellence that defines our program.”

From each graduating class, the program and partner clinical locations recognize several students for outstanding effort and achievement. Allison Taylor received the Colquitt Regional Medical Center Scholastic Award. Alexander Hubbard received the Colquitt Regional Medical Center Clinical Excellence Award and the Brooks County Hospital Student of the Year Award. Kyle Matthews received the Tift Regional Medical Center Star Student Award and the Tallahassee Memorial Medical Center Cathedral Award. Kyla Massey received the Archbold Medical Center Student of the Year Award. Ashlee Johnson received the Archbold Outpatient Imaging Center Student of the Year Award.

The Radiologic Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree Program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for positions in radiology departments and related businesses and industries. The Program emphasizes a combination of didactic and clinical instruction necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an associate of applied science degree, have the qualifications of a Radiographer, and are eligible to sit for a national certification examination for Radiographers. Following the completion of core requirements, this program can be completed in four semesters.

In the coming weeks, seniors will sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam, and pending passage will be ready for careers as radiographers. These seniors will be eligible to take part in the college’s December 6 commencement ceremony in Bainbridge.

SRTC offers over 155 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into a desired career, and 28 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia.
