Starfield includes an unexpected Ghostbusters Easter egg

A random Ghostbusters Easter egg has been found in Bethesda’s Starfield, with the action role-playing game referencing one of Peter Venkman’s many adversaries, providing fans with a deep cut.

The find comes from Reddit user McPoofy, who shared a couple of screenshots, with the character of Kelton seemingly doing his best impression of a Columbia University administrator, calling a fellow scientist a “disgrace to the profession,” proceeding to go on a tirade, claiming, “his theories are drivel, his methods are sloppy, and his conclusions are – at best – highly questionable. He is a very poor scientist.”

While maybe not the most memorable line from the 1984 comedy, the moment is a wink that Ghostbusters fans will undoubtedly catch, serving as an almost word-for-word retelling of Peter, Ray, and Egon’s expulsion into the private sector by Dean Yeager.

In other video game news, as part of Grand Theft Auto Online‘s annual Halloween event, a paranormal investigation team known as Ghosts Exposed, an obvious play on Ghostbusters, will be added, rewarding players who take photos of paranormal disturbances with in-game rewards, among them a caution-striped livery that borrows heavily from iconic film car, the Ectomobile.

Crossing streams back to Starfield, the next-generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, is available now on the Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Steam.
