Teen girl hit by trolley in St. Petersburg has life-threatening injuries

A pedestrian was hit Sunday morning by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority trolley on First Avenue South near Seventh Street in St. Petersburg, according to police.

The pedestrian, a teenage girl, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, St. Petersburg police said in a news release. Two passengers on the trolley also went to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

The crash happened around 11:22 a.m. and was still under investigation at 2 p.m.

First Avenue South between Martin Luther King Jr. Street and Fifth Street remained closed Sunday afternoon while the investigation continued.

No other details about the crash were immediately available.
