Tiger 3 box office collection Day 19: Salman Khan film struggles to reach Rs 300 cr milestone; Animal, Sam Bahadur to hinder rise | Bollywood News

Tiger 3 box office collection Day 19: The chances of the Salman Khan film entering the Rs 300 crore club look weak after the release of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur.

The third film in Salman Khan’s Tiger franchise, Tiger 3 has been running in the cinema halls for nineteen days and is now giving way to the new releases — Animal and Sam Bahadur. On Thursday, the film’s collection dropped below Rs 2 crore mark. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, it earned Rs 1.85 crore on its 19th day, bringing the total domestic collection to Rs 279.90 crore.

The chances of the film entering the Rs 300 crore club look weak as moviegoers have more options with the release of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur. Worldwide, the film has earned Rs 463 crore. Now if it will achieve the benchmark of Rs 500 crore will be known in the coming week.

The previous film in the franchise, Tiger Zinda Hai, which was released in 2017, did a better business. The film earned Rs 339.16 crore by the end of its eighth week in the theatres. Given the pace at which Tiger 3 is growing at the box office, it might be difficult for the film to register lifetime business even close to Tiger Zinda Hai.

However, the film has the record of the biggest opener for Salman Khan and also the highest-grossing Diwali release. Upon its release on November 12, Tiger 3 earned Rs 44.5 crore. Its below-par performance can be blamed on its release when the country was soaked in the cricket fever due to the ODI World Cup. It also received a mixed response from the film critics.

The Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta panned the film and mentioned in her review how the film lost its pace in the second half. She wrote in her review, “After that super-starry flourish where you can’t help but crack up at the bro-vibes the two trade, the story-telling settles into distinctly un-rousing patterns in the second-half, only intermittently sparking to life.”
