Jose Peseiro has exited the Super Eagles team as coach, The Herald reports. Peseiro disclosed this in a tweet via his X account on Friday, stating that it is a pride and honour to have coached the Super Eagles.

This is, however, coming after the expiration of his contract, just after the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Portuguese tactician stated that he will be leaving alongside his backroom staff, noting that they will miss the team but will always be there for them.

“Yesterday, we concluded our contract with the NFF. It was a pride and honor to coach the Super Eagles. It has been 22 months of immense dedication, sacrifice, emotion, and enormous enthusiasm. We feel a sense of fulfillment.”

Renowned Nigerian musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known by his stage name K1 De Ultimate, has announced the cancellation of his 67th birthday celebration planned for March 3rd.

The Fuji music icon, a household name in Nigeria, took to social media to express his decision, citing the current economic hardship faced by the country.

BUA Cement Plc on Thursday released its full year 2023 Audited Financial Statements and Accounts.

Despite the challenging economic conditions that started with the Naira redesign policy, the Company posted a strong revenue growth of 27.4% to N460 billion (2022: N361 billion), resulting from an increasing market share.

However, with the devaluation of the Naira last June and its continued depreciation, as well as growing inflation, the Company faced increasing price pressures which impacted production costs, as these increased by 39.5% to N276 billion (2022: N197.9 billion).

In addition, a net foreign exchange loss of N70 billion (2022: N5.5 billion) was recorded; with N52.5 billion attributed to finance costs, associated with the construction of the additional 3mmtpa lines at Obu and Sokoto (incl. other ancillary activities) and the sum of N17.5 billion attributed to foreign trade payables.

Nevertheless, the Company reported a net profit after tax of N69.5 billion.

Juventus football star Paul Pogba has expressed his displeasure over the four-year ban slammed on him over an alleged doping offence, The Herald reports.

According to Pogba, he is shocked at the decision to ban him from playing football for the next four years, as he is innocent of the allegations.

The Herald understands that the four-year ban on Pogba, which was announced on Thursday, means that the 30-year-old will not be able to participate in any matches until 2027, when he reaches the age of 33.

According to reports, it all began when Pogba was randomly tested after Juventus’ first match of the season on August 20, 2023.

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday inaugurated the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line project, a 37km project expected to reduce travel time and improve transportation and logistics in the state.

The family of a 13-year-old boy, Kelvin Onyengba, has been thrown into mourning after he drowned at the Alatise beach located in Ajah area of Lagos State.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, which was said to have occurred on Tuesday, February 27.

It was learnt that the teenager went swimming with five of his friends.

However, tragedy was said to have struck around noon as Onyengba suddenly went missing while inside the beach and frantic efforts made to locate him failed.

A nominee for the position of member of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Board of Directors, Urum Kalu Eke, has rejected President Bola Tinubu’s appointment, The Herald reports.

Eke declined his nomination by shunning the Senate Committee’s scheduled screening exercise, which was attended by other four nominees.

This was disclosed at Senate plenary on Thursday by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (APC, Lagos East), while presenting his Committee’s report on the screening of the CBN Board of Director-nominees.

Following the presentation and adoption of the report, the Senate, however, confirmed four other nominees as members of Board of Directors of the CBN.
