The National Weather Service says a survey team has determined a tornado touched down in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, late Sunday morning.The EF-0 tornado is estimated to have touched down a little east of the North Brookfield Waste Water Center shortly before 11 a.m. and traveled about 2 miles to the northeast, although it was not continuously on the ground, according to the NWS.The NWS said the tornado had a maximum width of 250 yards and an estimated peak wind of 80 mph. The tornado ended a little east of the intersection of Ryan and Hillsville roads.No injuries were reported in connection with the tornado, nor any home damage. The NWS said the damage was limited to trees with the most concentrated damage in the area along Ryan Road which is slightly north of the intersection with Ward Street.The NWS said there were several eyewitnesses to the tornado, although no one saw an actual funnel. One eyewitness was in an auto body shop and reported seeing strong winds making the shop’s garage door bow inward.Another witness, North Brookfield fire Chief Joseph Holway, said he saw debris lofted in the air.”It’s the first I’ve experienced in my career in the fire service,” Holway told NewsCenter 5. “It got very black and it showed signs of being problematic.”A third eyewitness described seeing chaotic swirling as the tornado passed by.Related story:
