Tri-Cities airport leaders share tips for hassle-free holiday travel

Already this holiday, folks are preparing to make the journey home. This week we talked to leaders at the Tri-Cities Airport about how to make that trip home as smooth as possible.

Leaders from the airport say it’s a good idea to consider checking your bags. They say airlines will likely check bags at the gate.

Airport leaders say checking bags will lighten your load, and save time both going through security and boarding the plane.

Director of the Tri-Cities Airport, Buck Taft says when going out this weekend, to remember to pack your patience and arrive as early as possible. He, says. “On your return home from wherever you go, if you’re at much bigger airports like SeaTac or DFW, Phoenix, or whatever large city you might be flying out of. The airlines are recommending being there around 3 hours pre(flight). A lot of this is just for security, getting through the checkpoint and getting to the back. We don’t have that issue here, but the larger airports do.”

Taft says when picking up friends or family from the airport, to use the cell phone parking lot, and have the passenger call when they arrive and have their bags.

We’re told you can pick them up from the curb.
