Wildcats Travel to Alaska for GNAC Championships

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington Cross Country heads to Fairbanks, Alaska, for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships this Saturday. The ‘Cats have the best runner in the conference in Johan Correa. Correa will go for his fourth straight win this Saturday.

Women’s Race: 11 a.m. (Alaska Time) – 6,000 meters
Men’s Race: Noon (Alaska Time) – 8,000 meters

Competitors: All 10 conference members will compete in The GNAC Championships and the NCAA West Region Championships which are set for Nov. 4 at Western Oregon.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Central Washington is coming off a great performance at the Emerald City XC Open, where the women placed 3rd and the men took 4th. Johan Correa led the men and won his third straight race, finishing the 8K in 25:07. Hannah Mikkelsen led the women placing 16th with a 6K time of 25:04.1.
 
Steiner Christensen clocked the second-best time of 27:36.2 and placed 20th. Colin Hitchcock wasn’t far behind Steiner and crossed the line in 27:40 and Max Hutton was the fourth runner taking 35th place with a time of 28:30.6.
Lauren Thompson, Nicole Yanasak, and Camryn Holterhoff finished 21st, 22nd, and 23rd respectively.
