24-year-old man murdered at DeKalb gas station had graduated from UGA business school – WSB-TV Channel 2

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A young man who was fatally shot while working at a DeKalb County gas station early Wednesday morning is a graduate of the University of Georgia Terry College of Business.

Police say Rahil Surani, 24, was posting notice boards at the BP petrol station in Flat Shoals around 2am when someone opened fire. He was shot twice and collapsed on the ground. The shooter emptied the cash register and left, leaving Surani dead.

Channel 2’s Tom Regan spoke to family friend Altaf Pabanyin, who said Surani’s friends and family were devastated.

“It is a real loss for family and friends and we are deeply saddened by this loss,” Pabanyin said.

Surani’s LinkedIn page says he graduated from UGA and was a future engineering entrepreneur and visionary.

“I am passionate about finance and always exploring the innards of the business world,” Surani wrote on LinkedIn.

The victim’s friend said he was very smart, kind and compassionate to his clients and everyone he met.

“Always down to earth, always greets people with a smile. He was a very nice guy,” Pabanyin said.

Pabanyin said the immediate family was too devastated to talk about what happened. They asked the public for prayers and support.

“Just pray for his soul. May his soul rest in peace, as do we. We have lost a hero to our family and friends. said Pabanyin.

DeKalb police said they are actively investigating leads to identify a suspect or suspects in the fatal shooting.
