Christian County at Central Hardin

Records: Christian County (2-8); Central Hardin (5-5).
Game Notes: Both teams have a forfeit win this season because of use of an ineligible player. Christian County got a win over rival Hopkinsville and Central Hardin got a win over rival North Hardin. The Colonels and Bruins last played in 2002 with Christian County winning, 42-7. The Colonels have lost five straight games and have allowed an average of 50.6 points a game over that stretch. They allowed 72 points last week in a 72-8 loss to Mayfield and 64 in a 64-32 setback to Henderson County the previous week. The 48 points Central Hardin allowed last week in a loss to Bryan Station were the most since losing 59-0 to South Warren on Sept. 7, 2018. The winner of the Class 6A playoff opener will face the winner of the North Hardin-Daviess County playoff game next week.
Elizabethtown at Garrard County

Records: Elizabethtown (3-7); Garrard County (3-7).
Game Notes: Teams last played in the 2004 Class 2A state playoffs with Elizabethtown earning a 47-18 win. Like Elizabethtown, the Golden Lions got off to a rough start this season, losing their first four games. The Panthers opened 0-5 and have won three of their last five games. Garrard County features a balanced offensive attack with 1,376 passing yards and 1,204 rushing yards on the season. The Golden Lions also have allowed 1,930 rushing yards in 10 games. Sophomore quarterback Justin Parsons has thrown for eight touchdowns and 1,324 yards and has been intercepted 13 times. Two receivers — senior Hayden Elleman and junior Cameron Peak have 34 catches or more. Elleman leads the way with 44 catches for 706 yards and six TDs. Junior Malachi Simmons leads the team in scoring with 60 points on nine rushing TDs and one receiving score.
John Hardin at Logan County

Records: John Hardin (4-6); Logan County (7-3).
Game Notes: Bulldogs carry a three-game losing streak into the Class 4A playoff opener after losses to Bardstown, Nelson County and DeSales. Logan County’s losses have been to Paducah Tilghman, South Warren and Greenwood, three teams who have combined for a 25-5 record this season. Sophomore quarterback Ridge Holman has passed for 1,999 yards and 21 touchdowns with three receivers catching 44 passes or more, including senior Jack Delaney with 58 catches for 642 yards and six scores. The Cougars’ defense has allowed just 860 rushing yards this season.
North Hardin at Daviess County
Head coaches: Brent Thompson, North Hardin; Matt Brannon, Daviess County

Records: North Hardin (1-8); Daviess County (5-5).
Game Notes: This will mark the second meeting between the teams in the last seven weeks. North defeated Daviess County in Radcliff, 45-16, but forfeited that win and two others because of the use of an ineligible player. Panthers have gone 4-2 since that game, winning their last two over Apollo and McCracken County. Daviess County defense has come up with 13 interceptions this season and North Hardin passers have been prone to throwing interceptions with 27 through nine games in 365 pass attempts.
LaRue County at Mercer County
Head coaches: Sonny Judd, LaRue County; Craig Yeast, Mercer County

Records: LaRue County (1-9); Mercer County (9-1).
Game Notes: Titans are averaging 37.1 points a game heading into the Class 3A playoff opener. The lone loss for the Titans was a 42-7 setback to Southwestern on Sept. 15. Mercer County has rushed for 2,061 yards this season with senior Denim Griffieth leading the way with 729 yards and 13 TDs on 115 carries. Senior quarterback Thaddeus Mays has passed for 1,306 yards and rushed for 676 yards and 14 scores. LaRue County picked up its first win of the season last week with a 25-20 victory over host Russell County.
Fort Knox at Green County
Head coaches: Mike Reed, Fort Knox; Colt Phelps, Green County
Gametime: 7 p.m. EST today
Records: Fort Knox (1-9); Green County (8-2).
Game Notes: Eagles picked up their first win of the season last week by beating Valley, 23-20, to head into the Class 2A state playoffs. Junior running back Roques Wrenn leads the Eagles with 347 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the season. He had 187 rushing yards and three TDs rushing against Valley. Green County, which is coming off a 43-0 loss to Taylor County, has allowed just 648 rushing yards this season. Junior quarterback Houston Hodges has passed for 1,583 yards and 14 touchdowns this season with two running backs rushing for more than 800 yards. Senior Jullian Seymour has gained 872 yards and scored 11 TDs and senior Kelson McKinney has rushed for 837 yards and 10 scores.

Records: Meade County (5-5); Trinity (7-3).
Game Notes: Shamrocks have won five straight and allowed only 23 points since losing to Male, 37-20. Freshman quarterback Zane Johnson has passed for 20 touchdowns and 1,395 yards. Senior running back Clinton Sansbury has rushed for 746 yards and 16 touchdowns to lead the Trinity ground game. Trinity’s defense also has come up with 23 turnovers. Green Wave have lost four straight games, losing to Bullitt East, DuPont Manual, St. Xavier and PRP. Those four teams have a combined record of 28-12. Junior Branson Stull has caught a team-high 37 passes for 391 yards and three TDs this season for the Green Wave.
