A holistic nutritionist has revealed why oat milk is the worst milk for you to consume — and which non-dairy options you should be drinking instead.

Steph Robinson, an influencer based in Los Angeles, California, has more than 107,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares tips about skin and gut health.

The content creator, who uses the handle @stephrobinnson, recently went viral after ranking the best non-dairy milks, with oat milk taking the bottom spot.

‘The worst possible milk you could consume is oat milk,’ she said. ‘Oat milk basically spikes your blood sugar and causes a crash.’

When it comes to non-dairy nut milks that are best for your gut health and increasing energy, she recommends macadamia milk, almond milk, and pistachio milk

Robinson explained it is so ‘glucose heavy’ that ‘it’s just going to cause more cravings throughout the day.’

She also claimed that the oats used to make the milk are ‘heavily sprayed’ with pesticides and chemicals, which ‘can affect our hormones over time.’

The pesticide glyphosate has been found in a number of oat-based products, according to the research done by the Environmental Working Group.

‘A lot of them have so many additives,’ she said. ‘It’s really rare to find a clean one, especially when you are ordering out.’

Robinson said her personal favorite was coconut milk, which she mixes with macadamia milk.

She gushed that coconut milk was ‘so good for your skin and for your gut, explaining that it is rich in fatty acids, helps reduce cravings, and has anti-bacterial properties.’

Robinson added that you should also be checking the ingredients of your milks to make sure there aren’t any sugars, additives, or gums.

‘All those things [put] wear and tear on your gut over time,’ she explained.

The nutritionist said her favorite non-dairy milk brands are Malk and Three Trees because they contain just a few ingredients.

She also recommended buying raw coconut milk from a farmer’s market.

‘I’m crying,’ one person wrote. ‘I thought oat milk was so healthy.’

‘Why does the best one have to be the worst lol,’ another responded.

‘Why does everything that tastes GOOD have bad side effects,’ someone else griped. ‘I’m tired.’

Robinson noted in the comments that organic cow’s milk is another good option ‘if you can digest dairy well.’
